Set-OutlookSignatures, the Benefactor Circle add-on, and the Outlook add-in are now available in version 4.30.0. This release brings massive capabilities to our Outlook add-in with new event-driven triggers, safeguards for your deployment process, and key stability fixes.
πOutlook Add-in: New Launch Events & Automation
We have significantly expanded the automation capabilities of the Outlook add-in by introducing support for several highly requested launch events. These events allow you to enforce and adapt signatures dynamically based on user actions:
OnMessageSend&OnAppointmentSend: Enforces a specific signature right after the user clicks "Send", completely overriding manual changes. The signature is applied client-side, ensuring the sender can see the final result directly in their Sent Items folder.OnMessageCompose&OnAppointmentOrganizer: Triggers when composing emails or managing appointments, including when editing drafts or existing calendar items.OnSensitivityLabelChanged: Enables dynamic signature assignment based on the item's sensitivity label viaCUSTOM_RULES_CODE(requires a mailbox with at least an E5 license).
π‘ Note: All new launch events are disabled by default and can be manually enabled in
run_before_deployment.ps1. To keep Outlook running fast, our optimizedmanifest.xmlgeneration now automatically excludes any unused launch events to prevent unnecessary UI messages.
πSmarter Deployment & Custom Rules
To make deployments safer and rule-bending more flexible, we've upgraded our tooling and scripting properties:
- Manifest Guardrails:
run_before_deployment.ps1now displays configuration differences between your new localmanifest.xmland the online version, and will actively warn you if your local version number is lower than what is currently live. - Expanded
customRulesProperties: When writingCUSTOM_RULES_CODE, you can now utilizetriggeredByLaunchEventNameto detect what started the script, alongsidesensitivityLabelGuidandsensitivityLabelNameto react to data classification changes.
πCore Enhancements & Fixes
- PowerShell 5.1 Compatibility: Corrected the assembly resolver code in
sample code\SimulateAndDeploy.ps1to ensure it works reliably across all PowerShell 5.1 environments. - Documentation Update: Updated the FAQ section on how to Keep users from adding, editing and removing signatures.
